Bossa Nova regional blend comes from Cerrado and Sul de Minas. Both regions are well known for their coffee production.  Cerrado is one of Brazil’s most productive coffee regions for consistently high-quality coffee, Sul de Minas is the largest coffee-growing region in Brazil, about 30% of the country’s coffee is grown here. It lies at an average altitude of 950 m.a.s.l and has a mild annual temperature of about 22 degrees Celsius.

The cupping lab in Patrocinio evaluates samples from about 600 farmers in the region with a focus on to developing this signature profile, highlighting the well-known flavours of Brazilian coffee. The chosen lots are then sent to our importer's warehouse in Varginha where they are sorted by screen size, defects are removed as well ahead of the coffee being prepared for export either to the dry port in Varginha or to the port in Santos.

The Rwenzori region has a long coffee tradition. With on average 2 acres, Bakonzo farmers work manually, with the help of the whole family, and traditionnally group together to process the cherries. Coffee is a source of incomes that allows them support their families and improve their homes. While farmers traditionnally sell parchments and kibokos (dried cherries), more and more choose to sell the freshly-picked red cherries to washing-stations. This enables farmers to access quick payment for coffee, and takes away the risk of drying coffee for the farmer, many of whom are not well equipped to dry coffee.

Tasting Notes:        Sweet and rich, notes of stewed black cherry and red wine with rich brown sugar and Brazil nuts body.
