    About The Coffee

Finca La Babilla is a 2-hectare farm owned by Lino Menor and his family, located in the Caserío San Francisco de Asís, Huabal district, Jaén province, in the Cajamarca region of northern Peru.

Lino has been a coffee producer since he was young, inheriting the tradition from his parents. The farm is primarily planted with Gesha and some Caturra, varieties chosen based on family and local experiences, known for their high productivity, good physical and organoleptic qualities, and resistance to oxidation.

In recent years, Lino has focused on improving the quality of his coffee by experimenting with fermentation processes, paying careful attention to fermentation times, fermentation tanks, and drying infrastructure. This approach is part of his ongoing efforts to enhance the coffee's overall quality.

Lino and his family do most of the work on the farm, with the help of local community labor. Looking to the future, Lino’s goal is to expand the farm’s production area by incorporating exotic varieties known for their exceptional quality. The agronomic activities on the farm are carefully managed to preserve and enhance the soil’s productive capacity.

To support this, they use small amounts of chemical fertilizers combined with decomposed organic matter. All cultivation is done manually, with tools such as machetes and brush cutters.
