About The Coffee
Mountain Harvest was founded by Kenneth Barigye in 2017. Their aim is to reshape the way the world sees and tastes Ugandan coffee through a commitment to long-term economic and environmental sustainability for the producers they work with.
Mountain Harvest source for this lot from 9 communities on the mountain that pass their strict quality analysis. As is tradition in Uganda, farmers process their own coffee through the washed process at their farms and then sell it as parchment. Mountain Harvest then dry the parchment further in their temperature-controlled warehouse before sorting it by size.
This is a Peaberry microlot and is separated from the rest of the lot by slots on either side of the size 15 screens on the milling machine. A Peaberry is naturally occurring mutation where only one bean develops inside the cherry (instead of the normal two), this microlot of Peaberries has a distinctive effervescent acidity and a vibrant citrus character.
